Dr LEUNG Kai Man, Alexander

Dr. Leung obtained his bachelor degree at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in Chemical Technology in 1995 and he subsequently obtained his PhD degree at the same university in 1998. After graduation, Dr. Leung worked at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University as Research Associate. He focused his research on chemometrics and chemical analysis of Chinese Materia Medica. In 2000, Dr. Leung was employed by Government Laboratory, Hong Kong Special Administration Region at chemist rank and served as Chemical Analyst. He was engaged in chemical analysis on the area of pharmaceutical chemistry, occupational safety and hygiene, dangerous goods and food preservatives. In 2007, Dr. Leung joined the Research and Development Division, School of Chinese Medicine of Hong Kong Baptist University and holds the post of Lecturer I and Laboratory Manager. Dr. Leung also serves as Laboratory Manager of Institute of the Advancement of Chinese Medicine (IACM) Ltd. and manages the associated laboratory which has been accredited under ISO/IEC 17025 of the Hong Kong Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (HOKLAS). Since 2008, Dr. Leung also serves as assessor of Hong Kong Accreditation Service.

Currently, Dr. Leung main task includes implementation of Hong Kong Chinese Medicine Authentication Centre and the associated Hong Kong A-Mark Chinese Medicine Quality Certification Program. Meanwhile, Dr. Leung also provides various testing and consulting services to Chinese medicine industry via IACM Ltd.

Dr. Leung has published 18 papers in various journals and 3 monographs. Among 10 SCI papers has been cited for more than 240 times. Currently, Dr. Leung focuses his research on chemical analysis of Chinese Materia Medica, product quality and safety. He also involves in the Hong Kong Chinese Materia Medica Standard (HKCMMS) program.
