Chinese Medicine playgroup welcomed by children and parents

18 May 2009

More than 100 children and their parents took part in the Chinese medicine playgroup organised by the Dr. & Mrs. Hung Hin Shiu Museum of Chinese Medicine last Saturday (16 May) to experience how Chinese medicine practitioners make diagnoses and prepare Chinese medicine decoctions.

Most of the children who participated tremendously enjoyed the hands-on experience of trying to find the pulse, the simulation of the tongue diagnosis technique and the sorting out of Chinese medicines herbs.

Classical Chinese medicine stories were narrated and they were told about the nature and curative effects of commonly used Chinese materia medica and decoction ingredients as well as how to use Chinese medicine to stay healthy.

The event was organised to tie in with International Museum Day 2009 and aimed to enhance participants' understanding and knowledge of Chinese medicine.
