The University recently received a donation pledge of HK$2.7 million from Junlan Electronic (HK) Limited for the establishment of the “HKBU R&D Platform for Mobile Healthcare Management System”. The R&D Platform builds on the research and product development in healthcare management system conducted by the School of Chinese Medicine and aims to raise public awareness of healthy lifestyles. In recognition of the company’s generosity, a cheque presentation ceremony was held today (5 November) with Mr Liu Jiru, Managing Director of Junlan Electronic (HK) Limited, and Professor Albert Chan, President and Vice-Chancellor, officiating at the ceremony.
Speaking at the ceremony, Professor Albert Chan said: “I am delighted that HKBU shares the same vision and objective with Junlan Electronic (HK) Limited in continuous exploration to benefit human health. Cooperation between tertiary institutions and business enterprises is indeed a great combination that generates a win-win outcome. We hope that with the generous support of Junlan Electronic (HK) Limited, the ‘HKBU R&D Platform for Mobile Healthcare Management System’ can make tremendous progress in various areas of healthcare so as to benefit the community as a whole.”
Healthcare management is the continuous assessment and improvement of health through various means such as the collection of health information, health check and assessment, personalised health monitoring scheme and health intervention. Recognising healthcare management’s growing importance in modern healthcare and medical system, the School of Chinese Medicine has done important groundwork in this area, including the establishment of a healthcare management database and a related knowledge discovery platform with a comprehensive range of technologies for the development of the healthcare management system.
