SCM hosts study tour for Mainland hospital chiefs

The School of Chinese Medicine of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) joined hands with the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SATCM), Department of Health of the HKSAR Government and Hospital Authority in organising a study tour of hospital management in Hong Kong from 18 to 24 July. The 30-member delegation, comprised of SATCM representatives along with senior executives of Chinese medicine hospitals in various cities and provinces in Mainland China and led by Dr. Wang Xiaoping, Director-General, Department of International Cooperation of SATCM, studied the management of public hospitals in Hong Kong and exchanged views with local representatives.

The study tour included lectures covering topics such as the local healthcare system, regulation and development of Chinese medicine in Hong Kong, integration of Chinese and western medicine services, pharmacy management and clinical information system, as well as site visits to Hospital Authority Building, Tuen Mun Hospital and the Chinese Medicines Section of Government Laboratory. In addition, the delegates visited the HKBU School of Chinese Medicine on 22 July where they toured around the teaching and research facilities and clinic, and exchanged views with faculty members on the development of the School and higher education in Chinese medicine in Hong Kong.

The study tour was partially sponsored by a generous donation of HK$250,000 from PuraPharm Group of Companies.
