The University recognised six faculty members for their outstanding performance at its 57th Founders’ Day Thanksgiving Service today (5 March). In addition, 171 staff who have served the University for 10 years or more were presented with Long Service Awards in honour of their dedication and valuable contribution to the University. On behalf of the University, Professor Albert Chan, President and Vice-Chancellor, HKBU, presented the President’s Awards for Outstanding Performance to six faculty members. They are: Dr. Li Min, Associate Professor of the Teaching Division, School of Chinese Medicine, who received the President’s Award for Outstanding Performance in Teaching; Professor Ian Aitken of the Academy of Film, School of Communication, and Professor Cai Zongwei, Chair Professor of the Department of Chemistry, who were granted the President’s Award for Outstanding Performance in Scholarly Work; Professor Ringo Ma, Professor of the Department of Communication Studies, School of Communication, who was presented with the President’s Award for Outstanding Performance in Service; and Dr. Anson Mak, Assistant Professor of the Academy of Visual Arts, and Dr. Yuan Xiaoming, Assistant Professor of the Department of Mathematics, who were selected as Outstanding Young Researchers. This year, a total of 95 colleagues received awards for 10 or 15 years of service, 52 colleagues for 20 years and 17 colleagues for 25 years, and seven colleagues for 30 or 35 years. Among them, Miss Kelly Chan, Manager of Academic Community Hall; Dr. Susanna Lo, Assistant Professor of the Department of Management; Mr. So Sai-kit, Head of the Registry and IT Services Division, School of Continuing Education; and Mr. Jobie Wong, Technical Officer of the Academy of Film, School of Communication, have served the University for 30 years, and Ms. Eva Cheng, Executive Assistant of Communication and Public Relations Office, and Mr. Tang Kim-fai, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Physical Education, have served HKBU for 35 years.
