2014 International Summit on Innovative Drug Discovery Charting the Course of Standardization of Chinese Materia Medica

Introduction

Chinese Medicine, the quintessence of Chinese culture, boasts a long history and has made tremendous contribution to well-being and prosperity of the Chinese people. To share the treasure house of Chinese medicine with the people of the world, efforts must be made to integrate Chinese medicine with modern science. The standardization of Chinese medicine is a prerequisite for the internationalization of Chinese medicine.

A leader in education, research, technology development and clinical services in Chinese medicine in Hong Kong, the School of Chinese Medicine of Hong Kong Baptist University is committed to the standardization and internationalization of Chinese medicine. The School has launched in 2012 a biennial summit on novel drug discovery in Chinese medicines to provide a platform for scholars and experts in the field from around the world to conduct exchanges and share their latest research findings.

The 2nd International Summit on Innovative hDrug Discovery carrying the theme "Charting the Course of Standardization of Chinese Materia Medica" will be held on 8 November 2014 on campus. The 2nd Summit will feature experts and committee members of pharmacopoeias of China, USA, Europe, Australia, Japan and Hong Kong to share with the summit participants their expert knowledge and great insights on the standardization of Chinese materia medica.
