Dr ZHANG Hongqi

Associate Professor, Teaching Division
Expert in Physiology, Neuroscience and Pathology

Dr Zhang is a trained clinical doctor in Western medicine but has shifted into research in neuroscience since 1990. He had his PhD training in Australia and post-doctoral training in USA. In recent years since joining School of Chinese Medicine in 1999, he is mainly engaged in research in pain and acupuncture mechanisms, and more recently in epilepsy treatment. His research has been supported by RGC and other grants and he has published more than 60 research papers. In teaching, he is mainly involved in teaching Pathology, Anatomy and Physiology, Surgery, and Emergency Medicine etc. He also takes responsibility in training postgraduate students including PhD.
