Professor Zhang Ge, Associate Director of Institute for Advancing Translational Medicine in Bone & Joint Diseases (TMBJ), and his team have recently received a grant from the 2019 National Key R&D Programmes of China to conduct research into one of the state-defined areas of focus, "Developmental programming and metabolic regulation". As part of the funded project entitled "Organ development and mechanism in hereditary diseases of calcium and phosphorus metabolism", the sub-team led by Professor Zhang will attempt to search for new biomarkers in hereditary diseases of calcium and phosphorus metabolism. This is the first project in the territory to be funded since the Programmes was extended to cover Hong Kong and Macao.
