Research Achievements
The fundamental research strength of SCM lies in its academic and research experts who comprise the largest research team of Chinese medicine in Hong Kong. The SCM research team has a proven track record of success in conducting research of far-reaching impact and publishing its findings in internationally esteemed journals, as well as winning external competitive grants and patents.

Highlight projects
- Successful bid for funding from the Theme-based Research Scheme 2020/2021 of the Research Grants Council to carry out aptamer research
- Establishment of the Centre for Chinese Herbal Medicine Drug Development Limited with funding from the InnoHK initiative under the Innovation and Technology Commission
- Invention of Hong Kong's first USFDA-designated orphan drug
- Development of guidelines for better reporting of trials of Chinese herbal medicine formulae
- Research on space life science conducted on China’s first cargo spacecraft Tianzhou-1
