In order to provide a safe and healthy laboratory environment for conducting cutting-edge research, SCM Safety Committee organised an annual laboratory safety workshop on 21 August. Dr. Joshua Ko, Chairman of the Committee, took this opportunity to remind all students and researchers working in the laboratories about the importance of laboratory safety and the relevant safety guidelines. More than 100 laboratory users joined the workshop in person and online.

During the workshop, Dr. Ko provided a list of common incidents in laboratories and the potential risks associated with them, as well as shared measures to handle unintended situations, such as emergency response protocols for fire or chemical spills. Laboratory users were reminded to exercise caution and remain vigilant at all times to eliminate safety hazards.

Participants found the workshop informative which refreshed their memory of the safe practices within the laboratory environment.
