Mr. Huang Chunhua, a PhD student from the School of Chinese Medicine, has been awarded the championship in the 2024 Kwok Chung Bo Fun PhD Student Research Excellence Awards Presentation Ceremony.
An award ceremony attended by Mr. Raymond Kwok, representative of the Kwok Chung Bo Fun Charitable Fund, Professor Alexander Wai, President and Vice-Chancellor of HKBU, distinguished guests, staff and students, was held to recognise and reward the research excellence and achievements of our young PhD researchers.
After the ceremony, Chunhua shared with the audience the research project titled “Chinese Herbal Formulation CDD-2103 Alleviates Ulcerative Colitis via Immunomodulation” and his significant contribution under the supervision of Professor Biand Zhaoxiang and Dr. Tan Hor Yue. This novel formulation has received approval from the National Medical Products Administration of China to conduct Phase II clinical trials. The research team plans to initiate these trials in mainland China next year to verify the drug’s effectiveness and safety for maintaining remission in ulcerative colitis. The findings have been published in Journal of Advanced Research.
