9 February 2025
On 9 February, staff members and students from the School of Chinese Medicine (SCM) braved the frigid weather to participate in the “Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2025” and completed the marathon, half marathon, and 10-kilometer races. Dr the Hon Kennedy Wong Ying-ho, Chairman of the Council and the Court, Professor Alex Wai, President and Vice-Chancellor of HKBU, and Professor Lyu Aiping, Vice-President (Research and Development) and Acting Dean of Chinese Medicine, were present at the event to cheer on the runners.
Professor Li Min, Executive Associate Dean of Chinese Medicine, led a team of undergraduate and postgraduate students to join the 10-kilometer race this year. With unwavering determination, she completed the race for the second consecutive year and broke her personal record. With this, she said, “Running not only builds endurance and willpower but also helps relieve stress, alleviate anxiety, and balance “Yinyang” (陰陽) for physical and mental well-being, enabling a better and stronger self.” Through her actions, Professor Li hopes to inspire more SCM staff and students to join marathon races, fostering resilience in both mind and body.
As in previous years, a team of energetic Chinese medicine practitioners from the Clinical Division and Chinese medicine students have been on-site since 4am to provide tui-na and post-race recovery advice to all HKBU runners, safeguarding their physical health. This also added a unique touch to the event, making it memorable for all participants.
