On 16 February, the School hosted a Spring reception at the campus, attracting over 250 guests, including government officials, management from Chinese medicine hospital, industry leaders, university management, staffs, students and alumni. The event showcased the spirit of unity and collaboration within the Chinese medicine community.
Dr. the Hon Kennedy Wong Ying-ho, Chairman of the Council and the Court, emphasised the University’s core mission of nurturing talent. He called on Chinese medicine alumni and industry partners to join hands in safeguarding public health and advancing the University’s development.
Professor Alex Wai, President and Vice-Chancellor, shared the latest developments of the University and the vision behind the new medical school proposal, demonstrating HKBU’s commitment to advancing in the field of systems medicine.
Dr. Vincent Chung Chi-ho, Commissioner for Chinese Medicine Development of the Health Bureau, shared his pleasure in returning to his alma mater and affirmed the School’s outstanding contributions. He mentioned about the publishing of the “Chinese Medicine Development Blueprint” in end of the year, and highlighted the importance of industry consensus and joint efforts for the development of Chinese medicine.
Mr. Huen Wong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the HKBU Chinese Medicine Hospital Company Limited, remarked that the highly anticipated The Chinese Medicine Hospital of Hong Kong will officially commence this year. As the first flagship Chinese medicine hospital in the territory, it will fully align with the Government’s policy to promote the advancement of Chinese medicine and provide quality medical services to the public.
Speaking at the occasion, Professor Lyu Aiping, Vice President (Research and Development) and Acting Dean of Chinese Medicine, expressed sincere gratitude to all stakeholders for their unwavering support and shared his optimism about the School’s future. He remarked, “Under the leadership of the new Dean, the School will elevate research translation and talent cultivation to new heights.”
A traditional lion dance performance by the young team from SWCS Chan Pak Sha School enlivened the gathering, exemplifying the spirit of cultural inheritance. Following the performance, the officiating guests, university officers, representatives from the Chinese medicine hospital, and the School’s management toasted a flourishing future of the Chinese medicine industry.
Over 250 representatives from the Chinese medicine field celebrated the Chinese New Year together at HKBU.
