Embarking on a new chapter: Orientation for 2025/26 taught postgraduate programmes

On 30 August, the School warmly welcomed the new cohort of students for the 2025/26 taught postgraduate programmes, filling the venue with energy and anticipation.

Professor Li Min, Dean of Chinese Medicine, congratulated the incoming students, saying, “Applications have risen steadily in recent years, making admission increasingly competitive. Each one of you present today has distinguished yourself among thousands of candidates.” She expressed sincere gratitude to longstanding partners, including Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, for their unwavering support and collaboration, which have significantly enhanced the recognition of the School’s taught postgraduate programmes.

“The milestone today marks the beginning of your professional journey,” Professor Li encouraged. “As the opportunities in the field of Chinese medicine continue to grow, it is those who are both innovative and committed to integrity will stand out. The future of Chinese medicine needs your commitment to innovation with integrity and boundless potential.”

Associate Deans Professors Zhang Ge and Zhang Hongjie highlighted the diverse career pathways available to Master’s graduates, noting that the establishment of the Chinese Medicine Hospital of Hong Kong and the Government Chinese Medicines Testing Insitution, alongside the rapid advancement of the pharmaceutical industry, will further create a boarder spectrum of new career opportunities.

The ceremony was further enriched by a speech from Ms Long Yongling, Director of Teaching and Education at the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine. Ms Long commended the meticulous design of the School’s programmes and expressed confidence that students will apply innovative technologies to the field in the years to come.

The orientation also featured alumni sharings, programme introductions, and interactive sessions between students and staff, offering comprehensive support to freshmen as they embark on university life. The School remains committed to nurturing talent, continuously enhancing our programmes to provide more research and clinical learning opportunities, and aligning curriculum development with market trends — all with the aim of cultivating future leaders who embody both expertise and integrity in the field of Chinese medicine.
