Chinese medicine student shines in innovation and technology with prestigious scholarship

Congratulations to Wan Lok-yan, a Year 2 student in the Bachelor of Chinese Medicine and Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Biomedical Science, on being awarded the Innovation and Technology Scholarship 2025 in the “Life and Health Technology” category! She is the only recipient from Hong Kong Baptist University among 25 outstanding undergraduates from across Hong Kong, showcasing her exceptional talent and dedication to innovation and technology.

The scholarship, worth up to HK$150,000, will support Lok-yan’s participation in elite training programmes, including exchange activities, mentorship programme, local internships and service projects . She plans to enroll courses on “Nanotechnology in Medicine” and “Clinical Trials” at University College London to deepen her understanding of traditional Chinese medicine, particularly in the enhancement of therapeutic efficacy and drug delivery methods. Under the mentorship of Dr Yu Chau-leung Edwin, Honorary President of the Hong Kong Association for Integration of Chinese-Western Medicine, arranged through the scholarship scheme, Lok-yan has gained valuable insights into the integration of Chinese and Western medicine.

Professor Kwan Hiu-yee Anna, Director of the Teaching and Research Division, attended the award ceremony to share the joy with Lok-yan. “Lok-yan’s achievement demonstrates the tremendous potential of our students in transdisciplinary development,” she said. “We are proud to see her excel in innovation and technology, and we look forward to her continued success in the future.”
