Professor Lyu Haitao, Associate Professor, has successfully led his research team to secure a grant of over HK$990,000 from the Pneumoconiosis Compensation Fund Board for a project titled “Functional metabolomics investigation of Licorice and Dried Ginger Decoction treating experimental pneumoconiosis”.
The study will employ a multimodal, molecular science-driven functional metabolomics strategy to investigate the therapeutic potential of Licorice and Dried Ginger Decoction, a classic traditional Chinese medicine formula documented in the Shang Han Lun, in treating pneumoconiosis using mouse models. The research aims to pave the way for new treatment directions for pneumoconiosis and related pulmonary fibrosis.
This research leverages the School’s expertise in functional metabolomics to facilitate the translational application of traditional Chinese medicine formulas in the pneumoconiosis treatment, making a significant step forward in the scientific validation of their potential therapeutic efficacy.
