In early December, the Chinese Medicine (CM) gynaecology team, comprising Professor Zhang Chunling and Professor Li Xiaoguang, Professors of Practice; Dr Chin Wing-yee, Associate Professor of Practice, and Dr. Paula Fang, Lecturer II, embarked on a four-day academic exchange programme at the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Medical Centre, The First Affiliated Hospital of Hunan University of Chinese Medicine.

During the visit, the team observed various CM nursing techniques and therapies, gaining a deeper understanding of the application of CM in common obstetric and gynaecological conditions, perinatal care, as well as its distinctive advantages of holistic and syndrome-differentiation-based care. They then engaged in in-depth discussions with the hosts on the latest advances in CM obstetrics and gynaecology, integrative Chinese-Western practice, curriculum enhancement, and clinical competence development.

The team also had the opportunity to undertake clinical shadowing under Professor You Zhaoling, National Renowned Chinese Medicine Practitioner (全國名中醫), gaining deeper insights into the gynaecology expertise in Huxiang tradition. The visit has strengthened ties between the two institutions, fostering future collaboration in clinical practice, teaching and research in TCM obstetrics and gynaecology.
