PhD graduate Liu Jia clinches the inaugural Outstanding PhD Thesis Award of HKBU. This award is established to recognise PhD students whose theses demonstrate exceptional originality, innovation and impact.
The award-winning thesis of Dr. Liu Jia, “Molecular Mechanisms of CAPON-Mediated Tau Pathology Induced by TFE3 Deficiency and the Therapeutic Potential of Chinese Medicine Compounds for Alzheimer's Disease”, elucidates a key molecular pathway underlying tau pathology in Alzheimer’s disease and identifies a potential novel therapeutic strategy. Dr. Liu is currently undertaking postdoctoral research at the School, continuing to explore the mechanisms and potential of Chinese medicine in treating neurodegenerative diseases. He expresses his sincere gratitude to his supervisor, Professor Li Min, Dean of Chinese Medicine, and co-supervisor, Professor Song Juxian, for their expert guidance, as well as to the School for providing a robust research platform and rich academic resources.
