Jointly organised by the School of Chinese Medicine (SCM) and the Traditional Chinese Medicine Branch of the China International Exchange and Promotive Association for Medical and Healthcare (CPAM), the Symposium on Natural Medicine Development and Resource Utilisation was successfully held at HKBU on 17 May.
The opening ceremony was officiated by Professor Lyu Aiping, Vice-President (Research and Development) of HKBU; Ms. Chow Chi I, Assistant Commissioner for Chinese Medicine Development and Consultant Chinese Medicine Officer of the Health Bureau of the Hong Kong SAR; and Professor Xiao Shiying, Research Fellow and Chairperson of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Branch CPAM.
The symposium brought together leading experts in the field of Chinese medicine, including Professor Yu Shishan, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, as well as seven other renowned scholars in the research of natural medicines. They shared the latest scientific advances, cutting-edge research methodologies, and insight into future trends. The distinguished speakers addressed a range of prominent topics, including innovative drug development from natural products, integration of Chinese and Western medicine systems, and the recent progress in the chemistry study of Chinese medicinal materials, fostering vibrant and in-depth discussions with participants.
As global interest in natural medicines and Chinese medical research continues to grow, the symposium aimed to provide a high-level academic platform for international and interdisciplinary exchange, foster collaborative innovation, and elevate the research quality and sustainable development of natural medicine.
