A delegation from the Kowloon Chamber of Commerce, led by its Chairman Mr. Conrad Lee, visited HKBU last Friday (13 December) to enhance relationships between the two parties. In addition, the University received a donation of HK$500,000 from the Kowloon Chamber of Commerce to support HKBU’s School of Chinese Medicine in hosting a forum entitled “Cross-strait Four-region Chinese Medicine Forum 2014 ‧ Hong Kong” with the aim of facilitating cultural and information exchange on Chinese medicine between Hong Kong, the Mainland, Taiwan and Macau to contribute to the development of the field.
In recognition of the organisation’s generosity, a cheque presentation ceremony was held, officiated by Mr. Conrad Lee, Chairman of the Kowloon Chamber of Commerce; Vice-Chairmen Mr. Cheng Po-wo and Mr. Lee Kwong-lam; Professor Albert Chan, President and Vice-Chancellor of HKBU; Professor Frank Fu, Associate Vice-President of HKBU; and Professor Bian Zhaoxiang, Associate Vice-President and Director of the Clinical Division of the School of Chinese Medicine of HKBU.
HKBU’s School of Chinese Medicine plans to organise one forum each year inviting participation from experts and scholars in the field of Chinese medicine across the Straits. By utilising the complementary strengths of the expertise in the four locations, the collaboration would enhance the development of Chinese medicine and would foster further development internationally, thus raising the global impact of Chinese medicine. The first forum will be held on 26-27 April 2014.
