SCM celebrates Class of 2023 at Commencement

1 Jun 2023

HKBU’s 64th Commencement–SCM session, held on 1 June, was a joyous occasion filled with pride, gratitude, and excitement. Students from our undergraduate and taught postgraduate programmes celebrated their degrees after years of hard work. Families and friends traveled from various places to witness the moment and share in the students’ happiness. As processions, speeches and ceremonies unfolded, filled with HKBU’s traditions, the Class of 2023 commemorated their time on campus and looked ahead to bright futures.

In his address to the graduating class, Professor Lyu Aiping, Dean of Chinese Medicine, emphasised the importance of adaptability, empathy, and lifelong learning for the graduating students. He highlighted how the students’ resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic will serve as a foundation for future success. “As you begin your careers, challenges will arise, but each presents an opportunity to learn and grow. Exercise your critical thinking skills in solving real-world health problems, embrace empathy, and keep learning. By doing so, you can make a meaningful impact on the lives in our humanity,” this message serves as a powerful reminder for the graduating students as they embark on their next journeys.

Students celebrated the community and friendships they found at SCM. “To my dear classmates, thank you all for your support and for always being there for me. My mind is filled with the memories that we worked together and encouraged each other,” said Che Linqing, final year student of the Bachelor of Chinese Medicine and Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Biomedical Science programme.

The Commencement was attended by over 300 students and 600 guests.
