Mr. An Meng, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Consun Pharmaceutical Group; Miss Duan Tingting, Deputy General Manager of Pharmaceutical Research Center; and Mr. Yang Junzheng, Director of Pharmacology Department, Pharmaceutical Research Center, Consun Pharmaceutical Group, visited SCM on 8 August. They were warmly received by Professor Lyu Aiping, Vice-President (Research and Development) of HKBU; Professor Jia Wei, Acting Dean of Chinese Medicine; Professor Yu Zhiling, Professor of the Teaching and Research Division and Director of Consun Chinese Medicines Research Centre for Renal Diseases (the Centre); and Miss Trudi Chan, Head of SCM Secretariat.

During the meeting, Professor Yu introduced the projects of the Centre, including the research progress and development goals of the Chinese medicine products for the prevention and treatment of renal diseases. He then led the guests on a tour to the Centre and other laboratories. The guests also visited Dr. & Mrs. Hung Hin Shiu Museum of Chinese Medicine and the Bank of China (Hong Kong) Chinese Medicines Centre.

Consun Pharmaceutical Group Limited generously donated HK$5 million for the establishment of a research centre for renal diseases under SCM in 2015. This donation has further expanded and deepened collaboration between the Consun Group and SCM in the areas of clinical pharmacological research, joint application for research projects, secondary development of Chinese medicine products, and cultivation of postdoctoral researchers, with the aim of fostering drug discovery for renal diseases to enhance public health.
